Cropping

Postby cainenine » April 1st, 2012, 8:06 am

Okay so Archie is at an age where I'm not going to crop his ears obviously but when he was I pup I had considered it but being that he was my little baby when looking around for someone reliable the only one highly reccomended in the area had retired so I am wondering for future reference if anyone can reccomend someone who can do a good pit bull crop. I live in Tacoma WA which is about 45-50 minutes south of Seattle, any suggestions would be appreciated.

If the opprotunity ever arrives in the future I would be willing to travel anywhere from Northern Oregon to Southern Canada and to Eastern WA.

Thanks!

A true bulldog crop in my opinion is a short crop. If you pulled the ear forward, you would trim the ear to the outside corner of the eye.
It is a very easy crop for any veterinarian to do, it requires no bell, just a straight line.
Many veterinarians don't want to trim ears anymore, too much trouble.

Have a veterinarian trim your pups ears and everything will be good. The worst thing that will happen is they will trim them too long. They like to do that, use a marker on the ear for reference.
People like to tell horror stories. They always like their story to be the worst... I have never seen a dog permanently harmed by trimming its ears...well, the left over bits of the ears take it pretty hard, but the rest of the dog does fine!
